What is Banded Cigars?
It’s a private journal for cigars you’ve enjoyed. You scan the band, keep the photo, and record the moment — a rating, a note, the place. Think tasting notebook, not social feed.
Can I buy cigars in the app?
No. Banded is not a store. There’s no shop, cart, or checkout, and Banded never sells tobacco or helps you purchase it. It only helps you remember cigars you’ve already chosen to enjoy.
Is there an age requirement?
Yes. Banded is only for adults of legal smoking age (21 in the United States (or the legal smoking age where you live)). It isn’t designed for or directed at minors.
How does band identification work — is my photo shared?
When you scan, the band image is sent to our identification provider (Google’s Gemini API) to recognize the cigar, and the result comes back to you. That’s the only place a scan travels. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Is my collection private?
Yes. Your scans are private to you by default. Nothing is shared unless you deliberately share a scan with a crew you’ve joined — and sharing is off for each crew until you turn it on.
Is my collection backed up?
Yes. Your Collection is stored to your account and syncs across your devices, so it’s safe even if your phone isn’t.
How do I delete my account and data?
You can delete individual scans in the app at any time. To delete your whole account and all associated data, use the in-app option where available, or email us at support@bandedcigars.com and we’ll take care of it promptly.
Is Banded free?
Scanning and keeping your Collection are free. We may offer an optional paid membership that unlocks extra features, billed through the App Store or Google Play.
How do crews work?
Crews are optional private circles. When you log a scan, you can choose to share it with a specific crew — or keep it to yourself. You’re always in control of what’s shared and with whom.
